When buying an LCD or Plasma TV, yes you want to look at picture quality. But knowing which brands are the most reliable is important too. You don't want to have your new set in the shop or returned to the manufacturer if you can avoid it.
Consumer Reports examined the repair and performance histories of the major brands. Here is what they found.
Overall the most reliable manufacturer of LCD televisions is Panasonic with the fewest repairs. That was followed by Dynex, Sanyo, Sharp, JVC, Sony and Sylvania.
As for Plasma sets, Panasonic again came in with fewest repairs followed by Samsung.
